While we are all stuck at home, OTT platforms have become our go-to when it comes to entertainment consumption. Recently, Netflix dropped the names and first-looks of 17 new films/shows that will be releasing this year on it, much to the excitement of its loyal users. Some of the biggest Bollywood films have been and will be available to stream digitally, alongside some quality shows as well, all thanks to the easy accessibility to these OTT platforms. To sort out your binge-session for the weekend, here’s a Platform edit of all the new releases today.

RAAT AKELI HAI
A crime-drama directed by Honey Trehan and starring the Netflix favourites Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Radhika Apte, Raat Akeli Hai checks all the boxes for a captivating thriller that keeps the viewer hooked till the end. It follows the story of a cop, Jatil Yadav (played by Nawazuddin) who is out to investigate the murder of a local politician. The trailer looks intriguing and has been said to be similar to the Hollywood crime thriller, Knives Out.

SHAKUNTALA DEVI
The much anticipated biographical drama starring Vidya Balan is all set to release today. Following the life and journey of the acclaimed ‘human computer’ Shakuntala Devi, the film is directed by Anu Menon and promises to be a fun and educational watch. The film also features Sanya Malhotra playing Shakuntala Devi’s daughter. Much of the film was inspired by the relationship between the mother and daughter, as director Anu Menon learnt much about the life of the mathematical genius from her daughter Anupama Banerjee.

GET EVEN
A British teen thriller series adapted by Holly Phillips from the book series Don't Get Mad, written by Gretchen McNeil, Get Even falls in the family of soaps that include Pretty Little Liars, Elite and Gossip Girl. The first season follows the story of four high-school rivals who unite to take revenge on their bullies, but get implicated in the murder of one of their peers.

THE UMBRELLA ACADEMY Season Two
Based on Gerard Way’s comic book series of the same name, season two of the hugely popular superhero series, The Umbrella Academy, is a highly anticipated release. The finale of the last season left all the viewers on a cliffhanger with many unanswered questions. It revolves around a dysfunctional billionaire family of adopted sibling superheroes who reunite to solve the mystery of their father's death and the threat of an impending apocalypse. This one is must watch and will most definitely be a worthy binge.
