Indianama 2024: Lost and Found

Indianama 2024: Lost and Found

Method will host Indianama for the first time, a creative initiative that captures the essence of India through a unique lens of artistic exploration created and curated by an independent creative agency, Animal. This year’s theme, Lost and Found invites reflection on India's evolving identity, exploring objects, flora-fauna, ideologies, and art that have either been lost to history or rediscovered.

Historically, stamps are issued by authorised bodies like governments and ministries – in that way, they are a conduit of a country’s system of communication and proliferation of expression and ideas. Erasure or rediscovery, in various forms hence holds significance in developing messaging for an India at the crossroads of the past, present and the future.

The exhibition brings together 42 artists from across the country and showcases 40 printed stamps based on facets of India that have either been ‘Lost’ (consigned to history) or ‘Found’ (witnessed a revival).  It is set to open on October 25th and will run till November 2nd, from 6-9 PM at Method Kala Ghoda.

Indianama 2024: Lost and Found

Indianama is a creative initiative launched in 2016 by the New Delhi-based agency Animal. The project aims to explore and redefine the conversation around design in India. Each edition of Indianama is thematic, focusing on various aspects of Indian history, culture, and society through a contemporary design lens.

One of the notable editions of Indianama is the ‘Remapping History’ project, which marked India’s 69th year of independence. For this edition, 69 artists were invited to reinterpret significant events and stories from 1947 to 2016, offering a unique visual journey through modern Indian history. The resulting works covered a wide range of topics, reflecting the diversity and complexity of India’s past and present. Other editions have included themes such as ‘A Nation Set in Motion’, which invited artists to depict India from their perspectives, moving away from clichéd imagery, and ‘The Streets with a Name’, which focused on bringing the power of branding and design to everyday urban environments.

Indianama 2024: Lost and Found

Indianama’s goal is not just to showcase art but to spark discussions and reflections on India’s evolving identity through innovative and thought-provoking design. The initiative has become a significant platform for artists and designers to engage with India’s rich cultural heritage and contemporary issues creatively.
