Peers Continuum: A Relay of Reciprocity

Khoj International Artists’ Association is pleased to announce Peers Continuum: A Relay of Reciprocity, an India Art Fair parallel, set to take place at Khoj Studios on February 2 – 28, 2025.

In 2003, Khoj started the Peers residency to nurture a vibrant ecosystem for young artists and emerging practices. Since then, it has become a springboard for a diverse array of artists, who have broadened the scope of the arts in the region. As we celebrate two decades of the residency, we called on our alumni to contribute to this exhibition-fundraiser, to help strengthen and grow the program for the next 20 years. Peers Continuum is a gesture of care, reciprocity, and community-building.

Khoj’s provocation is to ask artists, as prescient beings, to speculatively envision what the future holds for our lived environment. We asked the Peers alumni to speculate on the future of the spaces we inhabit — imagining landscapes that blend mythical with mechanical and biotic with human and non-human. Over 55 artists across 20 cohorts — including Rohini Devasher, Gurjeet Singh, Shailesh BR, Amshu Chukki, Mohd Intiyaz, Digbijayee Khatua, Damayanti Debnath, Bhuvanesh Gowda, Manjot Kaur, Sangita Maity — answered the call.

“In 2003, we wanted to create a nurturing space for young artists to experiment, and to evolve their practice. With each successive year, we realised the value that such residencies can have on emerging artists. Since Khoj has always been committed to building networks of support, this fundraiser-exhibition is a testament to generosity in action. It has been humbling and heartening to see the Peers cohorts come together to ensure that future generations of young artists can make their way into the art world, both at home and internationally,” says Pooja Sood, Director, Khoj International Artists’ Association.
