"The name, Vulgar, is a satirical take. If a guy is wearing a skirt or if a woman is wearing skimpy clothes, they will be called vulgar. I have been called vulgar for so many reasons and now this time we're like yes we are vulgar so what so this is the attitude and we are embracing that who we are and hence the name vulgar." Embracing the attitude of being unapologetically themselves, Sharma proudly adopts the name Vulgar, turning the judgment on its head and celebrating their authenticity.
Journey of Collections
The first collection introduced the concept of "intellectual punks" – individuals unafraid to embrace their deepest desires. Transitioning to the second collection, the narrative aligns seamlessly, focusing on the next chapter of the story. Sharma emphasises "Now that the world is acquainted with us, the goal is to carve out a space where our community can authentically exist, indifferent to societal approval." This movement, named "The Libertarian Movement", aims to break free from the binary constraints imposed by society. It advocates for space and voice irrespective of gender or societal norms. The collection embodies elements of freedom, liberation, and the natural world's free-flowing essence. The designs draw inspiration from nature's free elements, like the digital wave shirt representing water and the cosmic theme, reflecting the intergalactic and celestial wonders, Sharma elucidates.
Emerging Trends
I believe there is a noticeable shift in people's awareness and consciousness regarding their purchases. Consumers are becoming more attentive, questioning the necessity and purpose behind each purchase. As producers, manufacturers, and designers, it is crucial for us to respond to this shift by prioritizing quality in our garments and products. This change is particularly evident in the growing aversion to fast fashion, signaling a positive development. Embracing a more conscious approach to buying benefits both the environment and encourages us to strive for higher standards in terms of quality and design.
