The Show
In a splash of color, Habitat takes the viewer on a playful journey through microcosms ranging from the microscopic to the vast. With youthful freedom, the dance of shapes and patterns create biomorphic-themed settings where the imagination wanders without inhibition. In this body of work, the artist ushers in a welcoming adventure.
The Artist
VIKIKI, also known as Vishakha Jindal, is a multi-disciplinary artist working with a range of mediums and forms including painting, paper cutouts, paper sculptures, and collaborations with ceramics, clothing, rugs and body art. For Vikiki, painting is a form of play wherein she discovers more about herself and the world. Guided by impulsiveness, motion, and movement elements of color, line, and form coexist in harmony as they come together to create a visual habitat. Vikiki’s abstraction aims to transcend cultural, societal, and political boundaries through a universal language that provokes and engages the viewer while providing a space for the audience to reflect and celebrate the beauty of life and the present moment. Her inspiration and style is characterized by a focus on harmony and balance as she responds to the elements on her canvas in an effort to tell an abstract story that can be interpreted in different ways by different viewers. Vikiki is drawn to the idea of play and the sense of freedom and creativity it can bring. She finds that interesting ideas are often born out of boredom. In her work, she attempts to capture innocent joy by tapping into the wellspring of her own childhood memories of play.
