TAO Art Gallery- one of the oldest art galleries in Mumbai, will be hosting a unique show called "Integration". The solo exhibition by artist and ace photographer Aayesha Taleyarkhan and curated by Sanjana Shah. Previewing on Saturday, June 11, 2022, from 6 pm onwards, the show will be on display until July 22, 2022. The show promises to open up a world of new narratives for the audiences to ponder and decipher. Ayesha's portraits embody the layers of complexity we all carry within us - The subtle struggles, livelihoods, perceptions and labels people carry have been brought to the optical surface.
This series of images, which the artist has titled 'Integration 3.0', showcases rebirthing or reincarnation of photographs previously taken, now being adopted to reveal a new identity and being part of an alternate narrative. The diverse elements of the photographs are digitally incorporated to create the effects of crayons, oil paint, charcoal, watercolours, etc., thereby enhancing textures and layering in work and creating vibrant symmetry.
Speaking about her solo show, Ayesha Taleyarkhan explains, "The correlation between integration and the abstract leads to an unpredictable and ambiguous space. Its richness permeates and creates a fluid dialect, which reinvents itself like a work in progress, but is never incomplete. This spontaneous quality transcends its many parts, marrying the layers and textures of the unknown and morphing into serendipity. Integration is an effective concept that binds and unites across borders, physical, cultural and ideological, challenging worn-out perceptions. " The word "Integration" has numerous inferences and, as the word suggests, is contingent on inclusiveness and diversity. It connects and embraces communities and humanity, weaving inclusiveness and ingenuity into the fabric of life. Ayesha manages to integrate not only technique but also collective human experience into her art.
