The collection is an effort to represent a state of mind wherein the mind is always up to creating or dwelling in thoughts and is never without impressions or bereft of thoughts. Ek Katha tried to translate it by working on unbleached, undyed cloth. The pristine raw white of the untreated, handwoven cloth gives an impression of being untouched, yet it has its various textures and its character is evident. They created textures with cotton cords and embellished them delicately with tiny beads and mother-of-pearl buttons to gently resonate with the fact that the mind is ‘NOT A BLANK SLATE’ indeed.
About the Label
Ek Katha, a sustainable clothing label, are proponents of slow Fashion wear and ethicalcraft practices. Based in the bustling metropolis Mumbai, their spirit is firmly rooted in the craft and its simple rustic surroundings. The clothes are a contemporary rendition of the traditional craft applying it to accentuate the silhouettes. They create wearable comfort wear for the woman who knows her cloth and fashion. They have been working with the indigenous organic cotton of Kutch, ‘Kala Cotton’. The cotton is procured from certified organic cotton growers in Kutch. The grainy, raw tactility of the short staple cotton hand woven cloth along with the Batik wood block printing technique, adds to the drama and dimension of the humble cloth. They are 'Craftmark' certified by AIACA for these two processes which are practised in Kutch.
