Hamari Asha Foundation

Hamari Asha Foundation

Since 2009, Hamari Asha Foundation has been shaping self-reliant women from rural areas through their Diwali diyas. This time, they bring forth a whole range of handicraft products to present at Bikaner House from October 17 to 19, 2023. These products are crafted by women across various communities in an effort to become economically independent. From table linen and totes to quintessential Diwali diyas and candles, their products feature eloquent designs, the love and hard work of independent women and a slice of traditional as well as modern. Director of Hamari Asha Foundation, Radhika Uppal, talks to us about how these women come together to turn their hands towards craft and celebrate self-reliance.

INDEPENDENCE THROUGH CRAFT
Bringing together the talented and resilient women of Hamari Asha Foundation is a process that involves dedication and empowerment every step of the way. We begin by identifying women from various rural communities, transcending boundaries to unite them under a common goal: economic independence. Through the Hamari Asha Foundation, we provide them with opportunities to join hands and collaborate on meaningful projects.

The heart of our initiative lies in teaching these women valuable handicraft skills. We offer them training and guidance, nurturing their creativity and empowering them to transform raw materials into exquisite Diwali products. Through this process, they not only acquire new skills but also gain the confidence to showcase their talents to the world.

SPIRIT OF DIWALI AT BIKANER HOUSE
Bikaner House, an iconic cultural and heritage space located in the heart of Delhi, stands as a symbol of artistic richness, heritage preservation, and the promotion of diverse cultural experiences. What makes Bikaner House resonate with organizations like Hamari Asha is its commitment to promoting art, culture, and tradition. The culmination of this journey is our Diwali exhibition at Bikaner House. The event at Bikaner House will not only showcase their creations but also reflect the essence of empowerment, unity, and the spirit of Diwali. It’s a testament to the transformative power of Hamari Asha Foundation’s mission.
