The pandemic imposed a sudden halt on our lives. Almost instantly, everyone was cordoned off to the four walls of their apartments. Covid robbed us of life’s many little pleasures, and one of them was the luxury of eating out. However, the phrase ‘take-out’suddenly had a new ring to it, as chefs and home cooks started creating their own menus. We were now being given the option of enjoying gourmet style meals, while lounging around our living rooms in our pajamas. Home delivered food has evolved from greasy take-out to roasted pork loin steaks. So, if you crave fresh Singapore pepper crab, delicious tandoori raan and rice, or Char Siu Pork, Aashish Seth’s Soul Food has you covered.
A project that started when Soul Food’s founder Aashish Seth began cooking for his family during quarantine, has now turned into one of Bombay’s most popular gourmet food delivery services. As a graduate of Blue Mountains International Hotel Management School, Aashish has always enjoyed and appreciated good food. When it came to the Soul Food Kitchens however, he had help of his trusty team, consisting of Ambreen Chandiwala and Sanna Gubitra. Together, they conceptualised menus ranging from delicious Indian food, to Pan Asian delicacies. Aashish explains, ‘Covid brought me and many others to realize and appreciate the simple pleasure of life. For me, it was cooking delicious food for the people I love. Seeing the way people’s eyes light up when they taste my food, helped me realize just how happy spending time in the kitchen made me.’
Soul Food boasts of high standards when it comes to delivering their gourmet meals, by ensuring that orders are placed 24 hours in advance, to allow appropriate preparation time for the recipes, and minimal food wastage. Moreover, they make sure that the dishes on their menu travel well and don’t lose their texture, flavour, and appearance during delivery time. Upon request, the food can also be delivered beautifully arranged in trays, tastefully donned in ribbons and flowers. Seth also states, ‘We only serve what we would eat,’ reassuring all readers that you can only expect the best. Due to the success of their home deliveries, Soul Food has now proudly announced their first restaurant at The Duffdun House in Manali, where fellow foodies can enjoy the delicious food, while taking in the stunning Manali view.
